Musical Tributes to Propeller Accident Victims
We have seen some inspiring video/music tributes to deceased boat propeller accident victims as well as some songs written in their honor, and videos of deceased victims performing. We gathered some of those works to this page.
Charlie Hutton
Charlie Hutton, a 14 year old boy in the UK, was fatally struck in July 2012. Charlie is just left of front center in the photo. We covered his accident at Charlie Hutton, Boy Killed by Boat Propeller Near Isle of Wight Needles. One of his older brothers, Sam Hutton, is a budding musician in the U.K. Sam previously recorded a song titled, “Rescued”. He rewrote the lyrics a little and performed it at his Charlie’s memorial service. Sam plans to professionally record the song and use it to raise funds for the RNLI, but until then, he shares this version recorded in his bedroom.A memorial video includes several player and coaches speaking of their memories of Charlie, then turns musical at about 5 minutes into the video with music set behind several videos and stills of Charlie.
Kali Gorzell
Kali Gorzell, a 16 year old girl from San Antonio Texas, was fatally struck on the same July 2012 date as Charlie Hutton and even at approximately the same time. We cover her accident at Kali Gorzell: Texas Girl Killed in Aransas Pass Boat Propeller Accident. Her classmates started a “Live Like Kali” movement to encourage others to live life to the fullest as she did, while being nice others. After her death, some friends posted a very touching video tribute to her life set to music.
Kirsty MacColl
Kirsty MacColl was killed by a boat propeller in Mexico in 2000. We cover her accident at Kirsty MacColl Death by Boat Propeller. Kirsty herself was a widely know British folksinger at the time of her death. At least two of her songs are very reflective on the time we have here on earth and stir strong emotions. “Days” and “Soho Square” are both very moving songs.
